BOLD is an amazing non-profit organization working with the youth of communities impacted by natural or man-made tragedy, and our U.S. Military Families.  The acronym BOLD stands for Building On Life’s Disappointments and that is just what this organization teaches!  BOLD is igniting the fire in each of their participants through a unique combination of indoor and outdoor experiential curriculum and activities.  eSpor has partnered with The BOLD Youth Program to provide disadvantaged high school athletic programs with our “Game Changing Technology”.  By  leveling the playing field we are helping today’s youth to be BOLD.

“Having the opportunity to partner with eSpor and their “Game Changing Technology for Sports”, allows BOLD Programs a better chance to enroll and assist more disadvantaged high school athletic programs, around the country. These programs include not only Character, Leadership, and Life Skills, but also though eSpor software, student-athletes and coaches can improve performances through enhanced film study, preparation, and promotional efforts, with high-light videos for colleges. “Turning Adversity into Opportunity” is what BOLD does and we’re very happy to have eSpor joining us in our fight.”

to export or not to export?

Are you worried about export time?  How much memory space you will take when you export?

Look at your different options before you export!

AVI: Audio Video Interleave

This is going to be one of the highest quality video file options.  Keep in mind with the high quality comes a large file size and a lengthy export time.  I would defiantly use AVI if you are creating a marketing video, season highlight reel or anything that will be blow up and projected but for day to day use this option is going to take up a lot of memory and time.

MPEG:

MPEG is not actually a format but short for Moving Picture Experts Group. In most cases MPEG is taken for the name of the standard formats introduced by that group

MPEG is a video compression so the quality is slightly lower than the AVI or MOV but you are going to get a quality picture without the large file size and lengthy export process.

MOV: QuickTime Movie

MOV files are Multimedia Container Files making them larger files like AVI.  MOV files specific to Apple’s media player, Quicktime.  If your recipient is a Mac user you may need to export in MOV in order for them to be able to view the clips.

WMV: Windows Media Video

The advantage of WMV file format is it allows you to compress large files while still retaining considerably high quality.  Like MPEG it is considered a video compression so you won’t have as high of quality as AVI or MOV, since these are media containers.  WMV is supported by media players such as, Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, MPlayer, The KMPlayer, and VLC Media Player.

A way to save space is by saving these files directly onto your players flash drive or an external hard drive.  You can also get these file to your players via email, but if you do remember to send a compressed file such as an MPEG.

Happy exporting!

Wild World of Webinars

eSpor took the plunge into the wide world of webinars last week and after completing our first one we are addicted. Offering coaches a FREE resource into educational topics surrounding the coaching and sports world is officially a hobby of ours! Our first webinar, “Cameras, Conversion & Storage”, was a success. There were a lot of different levels of camera knowledge and expertise among coaches so we kept the first one basic. We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to Robert “John” Hadfiled from Thick and Mystic Media. http://www.thickandmystic.com/ We also want to thank all of the active attendees who asked questions and also those who gave us great feedback! Some loved it, some found it very informative, and others expected something different. The good thing about our eSpor team is we LOVE feedback and actually put it use! So upon many requests, our webinar tomorrow will be heavily about what to look for when researching editing software! Knowing what to look for isn’t easy when dealing with up and coming technology so we thought we would help you out!

Reserve your Webinar seat now at:
https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/321281561

We hope that you can all join us but if you can’t be sure to email us at marketing@espor.com to set up a private information session or to have a recording of the webinar sent to you.

don’t have a $83 million dollar budget like the University of Florida? No Problem!

Lets be real, not every school has their own non-profit corporation that funds their athletic program!  We know that when the season is over and the real work begins (camps, fund-raising, recruiting etc.) it is nice to have all the help you can get!  That is why we are so excited to offer our F R E E (yes this means you don’t have to tap into that $83M dollar budget) Webinar Series!  Our Webinar Series will run through the Spring and Summer offering education advice and tips on a wide range of different topics such as:

What video camera should I buy? What do I do with the game footage? How do I store the footage? Why does my team need a facebook? What the heck is Twitter and why should I Tweet? How can I create a cool end of the season highlight reel when I can barely work a computer? What should I be telling my team to eat for pregame and post game? Can eating the right things really keep my teams injuries down? What is statistical analysis and how did Butler’s, Brad Stevens, use it to win a Division 1 Final Four?

We do still have a few more spots open for our first one tomorrow! We would love for you to join!
